Terms of Service

1. Service nature

Saalis is an AI-driven hunting companion giving day-specific decision support for the best moment, conditions, and species. The service combines real-time data (weather, light, wind, terrain, land-cover) with general biological knowledge of game activity. It never tells you where or when to shoot.

The service does not guarantee a harvest. Hunting success depends on many factors including skill, equipment, conditions, game density, and luck.

2. Liability limitation

Map layers and markers are data-driven decision support — do not act blindly. The map may have outdated or incomplete data, terrain may differ, or weather may have changed. You alone decide whether a shot is safe and legal.

Saalis's operator is not liable for damages caused by:

• Firearm accidents, injuries or property damage while hunting
• Injuries (falls, weather, hypothermia)
• Game not taken or lost game
• Service interruptions, data inaccuracies

3. Firearm + field safety

• Always verify your backstop and identify the target before any shot
• Check the weather forecast and wind direction yourself
• Trust the map only as an aid — your own eyes and judgement of the terrain are primary
• Don't hunt alone in difficult conditions, inform someone of your plans
• The app's layers are based on open map data, but local conditions can change

4. User obligations

• Get a valid hunting card and permits — local laws apply (state/provincial, country-specific)
• Comply with hunting seasons, closed periods, and quotas
• Closed-season warnings are advisory — ultimate responsibility is yours
• Use the game you take — don't waste meat, and follow your duty to track and recover wounded animals

5. Intellectual property

The Saalis service is the operator's intellectual property. Personal use is permitted. Commercial use, copying or scraping requires written permission.

External data: weather data comes from Open-Meteo (CC-BY 4.0), topographic and land-cover maps from Finland's National Land Survey (open data), Cloudflare Workers AI for the LLM coach.

6. Changes

We reserve the right to update these terms. Major changes will be notified in the app. Continuing to use the service means accepting the updated terms.

7. Applicable law

Finnish law applies to the service. Disputes are settled in the District Court of Lahti. For US/EU consumers their local consumer protection laws apply.
