Terms of Service

Effective: 2026-05-13

Summary

  • BiteWave provides data-based fishing suggestions — not absolute guarantees of catches
  • Following routes/spots is at your own responsibility — verify own safety (boating, weather)
  • You are responsible for valid fishing licenses, regulations and quotas in your jurisdiction
  • The service is free, no warranty

1. Service nature

BiteWave is an AI-driven fishing assistant giving day-specific suggestions for the best fishing moment, location, and lure. The service combines real-time data (weather, water temperature, depth contours, satellite imagery) with peer-reviewed fish biology research.

The service does not guarantee catches. Fishing success depends on many factors including skill, equipment, conditions, fish density, and luck.

2. Liability limitation

Trolling routes and fishing spots are data-driven suggestions — do not blindly follow the line. The map may have outdated bathymetry data, you may run aground on a sandbar, or weather may have changed.

BiteWave's operator is not liable for damages caused by:

  • Boat/equipment damage following routes (grounding, propeller damage)
  • Injuries (cuts, weather, hypothermia)
  • Catches not made or lost catches
  • Service interruptions, data inaccuracies

3. Boating + water safety

  • Always carry life jackets
  • Check the weather forecast and wind direction yourself
  • Trust the map only as an aid — your eyes (sandbars, rocks, vegetation) are primary
  • Don't fish alone in difficult conditions, inform someone of your plans
  • The app's trolling routes are based on lake depth data, but local conditions can change

4. User obligations

  • Get a valid fishing license — local laws apply (state/provincial, country-specific)
  • Comply with minimum sizes, closed seasons, and quotas
  • Spawn-season warnings are advisory — ultimate responsibility is yours
  • Don't release fish weakened by handling — handle in water, <30s air exposure

5. Intellectual property

The BiteWave service is the operator's intellectual property. Personal use is permitted. Commercial use, copying or scraping requires written permission.

External data: weather data comes from Open-Meteo (CC-BY 4.0), depth contours from Finland's National Land Survey (open data), Cloudflare Workers AI for the LLM coach.

6. Changes

We reserve the right to update these terms. Major changes will be notified in the app. Continuing to use the service means accepting the updated terms.

7. Applicable law

Finnish law applies to the service. Disputes are settled in the District Court of Lahti. For US/EU consumers their local consumer protection laws apply.
